Weekend Box-Office Report (June 14-16, 2013)

Man of Steel Box Office

Warner Bros' Superman reboot "Man of Steel" opened at #1 with a huge $113M over 3 days which makes this the 18th largest opening of all time, behind 2007's "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" ($114M). To this they will also add an extra $12M from Thursday's late-night screenings, which brings the domestic tally to $125M (the biggest June opening ever). The apocalypse comedy "This is the End" starring James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Jay Baruchel and Craig Robinson managed a good first weekend considering its competition by taking in $20M for a cosy second place. Last week's box-office champion "The Purge" starring Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey fell over 75% from its opening weekend and dropped to #5 ($8M). Still, a $51M total compared to its $3M budget is still great.

More box-office details and the complete top 10, after the jump.
