Anne Hathaway Joins Christopher Nolan’s INTERSTELLAR

Anne Hathaway Pictures

Academy Award Winner Anne Hathaway ("Les Miserables") has joined Christopher Nolan's sci-fi adventure "Interstellar". The film, which is about "a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding", has also signed on Matthew McConaughey for the lead role. Both Hathaway and McConaughey are enjoying a successful period in their careers. Hathaway is fresh off her Oscar win for the musical "Les Miserables" and the box-office success of "The Dark Knight Rises" (also directed by Nolan) and McConaughey has been recently involved in several independent projects last year, including "Magic Mike" and "Killer Joe" which have earned him a lot of praise from critics and audiences alike.

"Interstellar" is a collaboration between Paramount and Warner Bros. Steven Spielberg was originally set to helm the project in 2006, with Nolan's brother Jonah Nolan ("Memento") hired to write the script. After Spielberg left, Christopher Nolan came aboard with the intention to merge the existing script with some of his original ideas. The film's story is inspired by the scientific theories of Caltech physicist and relativity expert Kip S. Thorne about wormholes and time travel. Thorne also serves as a technical consultant for the production. Needless to say, my interest is piqued.
