"Black Panther" still dominates the box-office, while the highly anticipated "Tomb Raider" delivered the modest debut everyone was expecting. The big surprise of the weekend, however, was the faith-based drama "I Can Only Imagine", which beat out Fox's new coming-of-age drama "Love, Simon".

Disney and Marvel's "Black Panther" is holding strong at the top of the charts with $27 million over the weekend and a total domestic gross of $605.4 million. It's also the first film to stay at #1 for five weekends in a row since "Avatar" in 2009. The film is only $18 million away from "The Avengers" and becoming the highest grossing superhero movie of all-time. Overseas, "Black Panther" has grossed $577.1 million.
In second place we have Warner Bros' new release "Tomb Raider", which opened with an okay $23.5 million. While not a particularly impressive debut, it's pretty much in line with the studio's expectations, but also a lot lower than the first "Tomb Raider" adaptation starring Angelina Jolie. That film opened with $47.7 million in 2001, which adjusted for inflation would amount to around $77 million today. Still, the new version made up for it overseas where it brought in $102.5 million from 65 countries in 10 days. The reboot received mixed reviews from critics (49% on Rotten Tomatoes and 46 on Metacritic), while CinemaScore reports a modest "B" grade from their audience polls.
The weekend's over-performer award goes to the faith-based drama "I Can Only Imagine" which opened with $17 million from just 1,629 theaters, against a $7 million budget. The film received mixed reviews from critics (62% on Rotten Tomatoes and 27 on Metacritic), and a rare "A+" from CinemaScore.
Disney's "A Wrinkle in Time" dropped 50% and landed in fourth place with $16.5 million. The film's domestic tally has reached $61 million after 10 days. Overseas it's not making much of an impression, as the film brought in just $10.6 million from 11 markets.
The Top 5 is rounded up by the last of the new wide releases, Fox's teen drama "Love, Simon", which opened with $11.5 million from 2,402 theaters, lining up with studio expectations. The film received very enthusiastic reviews from critics (91% on Rotten Tomatoes and 73 on Metacritic), and an excellent "A+" from CinemaScore.
Although no longer in the Top 10, "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" has topped $400 million domestically and is only $3.4 million away from "Spider-Man" and becoming Sony's highest grossing release of all-time.
