New Trailer for CARRIE Starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore

Chloe Grace Moretz Carrie

The first full trailer for the new adaptation of Stephen King's "Carrie" is at last here and it's very generous with the plot details, especially for fans of King's novel. The film stars Chloe Grace Moretz as the reclusive teenager with telekinetic powers and a crazy religious mother, played by Julianne Moore. The trailer highlights the mother-daughter relationship as the central conflict of the movie, but also features plenty of scenes in which Carrie practices her special powers.

However, I fear that through the over-reliance on visual effects, some of the impact of the story might be diminished in favor of eye-catching spectacle. I hope they don't try to go over-the-top with the destruction, because that will simply not help the movie. I have a lot of faith in director Kimberly Peirce ("Boys Don't Cry"), but don't trust studios trying to market their movies for higher box-office returns.

"Carrie" opens on October 18, 2013.

Watch the trailer after the jump.
