Weekend Box-Office Report (March 22-24, 2013)

With four new wide releases, competition was high this weekend at the box-office. First prize goes to "The Croods", the prehistoric animated adventure, which opened with a solid $44 million and gathered an additional $62 million overseas, which is not bad at all for its first 3 days. The White-House-under-siege action thriller "Olympus Has Fallen" starring Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman opened at #2 with $30M, which is decent enough. The highly-buzzed dark comedy "Spring Breakers" opened wide this week after a promising first week in limited release, and managed to rake in $5 million, which is also good, considering it was made on a budget of $2 million. Not so good was the opening weekend performance of Paul Weitz's comedy "Admission", starring Tina Fey and Paul Rudd, which only earned $6 million.

More box-office details and the complete top 10, after the jump.
