The "Red Dawn" remake is finally getting released this year, on November 21st (US). So, the publicity machine has begun sending out promo material, such as the teaser poster you can see on the right side of this post, an official synopsis and some pictures (below). The original movie, released in 1984, was about a group of teenagers who form a resistance group, calling themselves the Wolverines, after the United States was invaded by a joint Soviet-Nicaraguan-Cuban invasion force. The original was co-written and directed by John Millius (writer of "Apocalypse Now"). The remake is directed by Dan Bradley, who previously worked as stunt coordinator on movies such as "The Bourne Ultimatum" and "Spider-Man 2", and written by Carl Ellsworth ("Disturbia") and newcomer Jeremy Passmore. The cast features Chris Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, Josh Peck and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Check out the official synopsis and pictures for the "Red Dawn" remake below :
"In Red Dawn, a city in Washington state awakens to the surreal sight of foreign paratroopers dropping from the sky – shockingly, the U.S. has been invaded and their hometown is the initial target. Quickly and without warning, the citizens find themselves prisoners and their town under enemy occupation. Determined to fight back, a group of young patriots seek refuge in the surrounding woods, training and reorganizing themselves into a guerilla group of fighters. Taking inspiration from their high school mascot, they call themselves the Wolverines, banding together to protect one another, liberate their town from its captors, and take back their freedom."
